  • In order to bypass the download failed, virus detected messages from Windows Defender, you should first launch Windows Defender. For that, start typing Windows in your Cortana search box and it will result in the Cortana showing you a set of search results. Click on the one named Windows Defender from the search results to launch Windows Defender.



  • The execution of last step will launch Windows Defender window as shown in the below screenshot.



  • From the window that opens, click on the last tab, which is the History tab. Now select the radio button corresponding to All detected items. Once you are done, click on the button named View details at the bottom of the window.



  • Now from the list of items that gets listed under the detected items, you have to find the one that was blocked without it being an actual threat to your system. The name and path of the item, the date on which it was detected as a threat, it’s alert level and the action that was taken on the item will be shown to you by Windows Defender. Check the cell corresponding to the suspected item. This will result in the un-greying of the button named Allow item at the bottom. Simply click on it, to let the program run on your system. That’s it. Now you can try to download the file again.
