How to fix Network Discovery in Windows 10

Network Discovery is a feature in Windows that allows you to view other computers that are connected to your network. Using this feature, you can browse files/folders on other computers.

Sometimes, we face issues when some of the protocol related to Network & Firewall settings fails to work. In this situation, finding computers on the network becomes strenuous.

 

In this article, we’ll follow certain steps on how to fix Network Discovery in Windows 10:

Step 1:

Right click on “Start” icon positioned at the bottom left corner of your screen. Click on “Control Panel”.

Step 2:

On selecting the “Category View”, click on “System and Security”.

Step 3:

Click on “Administrative Tools”. It provides various functions like Computer Services, Computer Management, System Configuration, Task Scheduler etc.

Step 4:

Double click on “Services”. It includes various “Startup Types” which can be enabled automatically or manually.

Step 5:

In the bottom left corner of the “Services” window, click on “Standard”.

Scroll Down for “DNS Client” and look whether its Startup type is “Automatic” or not. Generally, the “DNS Client” is enabled automatically.

Step 6:

Scroll down & look for “Function Discovery Resource Publication”. As the Startup type is found to be “Manual”, right click on it & click on “Properties”.

Step 7:

Change the Startup type to “Automatic” & click on “OK”.

Step 8:

Scroll down again and look for “SSDP Discovery”. As the Startup type is found to be “Manual”, right click on it & click on “Properties”.

Step 9:

Change the Startup type to “Automatic” & click on “OK”.

Step 10:

Scroll down again & look for “UPnP Device Host”. As the Startup type is found to be “Manual”, right click on it & click on “Properties”.

Step 11:

In the final step, change the Startup type to “Automatic” & click on “OK”.
