Minimum System Configuration for upgrading to Windows 10

Check if your PC has enough juice to support Microsoft’s new upgrade to Windows 10.

If you haven’t upgraded to windows 10 and are holding out you likely are wondering about the compatibility of your Pc with the new Microsoft operating system.

Note: This is for users with a genuine Windows installed on their PC



Windows 10 is the latest Operating System by Microsoft with various new features and many old ones being given a makeover. The UI is made to look sleek and elegant with all the use of your graphics display. Smooth transitions and animations, ability to install 3rd party apps and a lot more comes at the price of higher system specifications and performance.

Though not to worry, the minimum system requirements to run Windows 10 are the same as Windows 8.1.

Minimum system requirements for Windows 10.

  • Operating System – “Windows 7  or Windows 8 / 8.1”
  • Processor- 1 GHz or More
  • Disk Space- 16GB for 32 bit and 20GB for 64 bit.
  • Ram – 1GB for 32 bit and 2GB for 64 bit.
  • Graphics/Display Driver- directx 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 Graphics card
  • Monitor/Display- 1024×600

Here , i will show you how to check if your PC is compatible with windows 10 via the Windows Upgrade Tool.
For this method to work, you should have the latest Windows updates installed.
This is because due to the release of Windows 10 Microsoft had pushed an upgrade tool to all windows 7 and windows 8.1 users in order to help them upgrade to Windows 10 easily.

This tool will only become visible once you have installed the latest Microsoft updates for your Operating System. Users with pending updates should update their Pc’s immediately in order to continue with the procedure and to be able to view the upgrade tool .

You might think that the upgrade tool is unnecessary and obtrusive but it does way more than giving u a free copy and reminding you about Windows 10.

Once you have your updates installed and the upgrade tool visible in the task-bar below,

1- Click on the update tool and open the window.

This is the upgrade tool and your introduction to windows 10.

2- Click on the icon at the top left of the window, three parallel lines , the icon to make the left pane visible.

3- Find Check Your Pc and click on it, in the now visible left pane of the window. The tool will now run another utility to check your machine’s compatibility.

The Microsoft utility to check the compatibility of your pc with Windows 10, will now check your pc.

Once the utility is done, it will display the result.



If your pc is compatible with Windows 10, you will get a dialog box with a message stating that Your PC is Ready.

If your Pc is not compatible, a similar dialog box will open up, stating the reasons and limitations of your pc, that prevent Windows 10 from being compatible with your machine.
In the rare case you are unable to get the upgrade tool or update ur pc but still want to know the minimum requirements , they are listed below.

Note: The upgrade tool will only show up on genuine copies of Windows only. if you have a Pirated version, it will not work.
