Note that the changes in screen brightness levels is applicable to the current state of current power plan only. Once you change the power plan or change the current state of your power plan the brightness changes. For example your laptop is currently being charged and you change the brightness, as soon as the laptop stops charging and goes on battery, the screen brightness will change to levels defined in your power plan on battery defined levels.

Let me explain you a bit more here about power plans.

The power plan which is selected in this window is your current power plan.

Now, let’s say your laptop is

  • Currently plugged in and charging.
  • Your current power plan is plan A

Then if you drag and change screen brightness, this setting will only remain good as long as you are in plan A and your laptop is plugged in and charging.

If you want to see this, just click on change plan settings. The brightness level you dragged to adjust is same as the current state of current power plan.

For setting a fixed plan brightness uniformly in charging and non-charging state, just change the screen brightness of both and save changes.

If you do not want to touch the settings of these plans, you can also create a new power plan for specific needs and set standard  brightness levels and save changes. For example, if you are creating a power plan for doing the presentation, set definite brightness levels and save changes. Before you start the presentation, just select that particular power plan.

Now, let’s see how to use window self brightness adjusting feature.
